Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

The Central Connecticut Health District (District) covers the four towns of Berlin, Newington, Rocky Hill and Wethersfield and is accepting applications for the position of part-time Emergency Preparedness Coordinator (20-25 hrs/week). This is a federally funded durational position.

Responsibilities include:

  • ­          Ongoing public health emergency response plan development and testing
  • ­          Local and regional emergency response collaboration and coordination
  • ­          Volunteer recruitment, management and training
  • ­          Producing grant reports and meeting contract deliverables
  • ­          Assisting in the coordination of annual flu vaccination clinics.


  • ­          Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public health or related field plus three or more years of professional experience in a local public health agency or comparable setting required
  • ­          Emergency response planning experience is required
  • ­          Professional licensure as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) preferred.


  • ­          Proficient in MS Office 365
  • ­          Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • ­          Highly organized and detail oriented
  • ­          Effective group process, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • ­          Knowledge of emergency management and Incident Command Systems is desirable.
