CCHD Flu Clinics

CCHD Encourages CT Residents to Attend Our POD Flu Clinic!

Central Connecticut Health District (CCHD) will be hosting nine flu clinics during the month of October 2018 amongst our four district towns of Berlin, Newington, Rocky Hill, and Wethersfield. CCHD strongly encourages all CT residents to attend our POD (Point of Dispensing) flu clinic scheduled for Saturday, October 13th from 9 AM – 12 PM at the Newington High School.

Our October 13th clinic will be utilized to stage a simulated POD (Point of Dispensing) Site customarily enacted in the event of a public health emergency through the Incident Command System (ICS) and will be implemented by CCHD’s Emergency Preparedness branch. POD sites are strategically identified locations ideal for the mass distribution of medical interventions such as medications or vaccines. Accordingly, POD sites must be centrally located, easily accessible, able to accommodate large volumes, and operated in a manner that maximizes flow & minimizes congestion. The simulation enables CCHD to examine our performance and evaluate our medication/vaccination dispensing efficiency in a real world setting in an effort to appraise our agency’s targeted response during a public health emergency.
